Things that actually worked this month (short list)
- Writing the first sentence of tomorrow's work before closing the laptop. Starting cold is the expensive part.
- Saying the number out loud before agreeing to a deadline. Half the time I hear how wrong it is.
- A twenty minute walk with no headphones. I resisted this for years because it sounded like advice from a poster.

The first one is the real one. Leaving a sentence unfinished is a rope back into the work. Hemingway apparently did it on purpose, though everybody attributes everything to Hemingway.
Saying the number out loud is the best thing in this list. Deadlines die in silence and survive in speech.
