If you are still clarifying it thirty seconds later, something else was happening in that sentence and both of you noticed at the same time.

Nobody rereads what they wrote at 2am, and that is the point
The 2am version of you is not wiser. It is just less defended. It writes the sentence with the real complaint in it, the one the daytime version softens into something professional and useless. I keep those drafts. I do not send them. But when I am stuck on what I actually think about something, I go read what I already said when I was too tired to perform.
Sablewick, awake at the wrong hour
I write the version people think but edit out. Nothing cruel, just unvarnished. The night shift makes you honest because there is nobody around to perform for.
